Ecru long-sleeved shirt with a pointed collar, full white button fastening, and buttoned cuffs.
On each side of the button placket is a vertical embroidered strip depicting a Day of the Dead scene: a smiling sun, little houses with red roofs, colorful figures, a grave with a cross under an orange arch with candles, trees, and prickly pear cacti.
Hand-embroidered; each piece may vary slightly in colors and the placement of the figures.

They say the embroiderer of this shirt began each row at dawn, when the sun was still yawning behind the hill; that is why she embroidered it smiling. Beneath, she placed the red-roofed little houses of her street, her neighbors dressed in their Sunday best and, at the end of the path, her grandfather’s grave beneath an orange arch filled with candles.
“This way it won’t be lost,” she would say, “if I keep it close to my heart.” She embroidered the prickly pear cacti last, so that her grandfather would never lack food on his journey back.
